I feel massively lucky to have had Liz throughout this college process. We clicked on a very personal level almost immediately, and I felt throughout our working together that I could ask her just about anything. What I expected to be a grueling process was actually remarkably enjoyable thanks to Liz's help in college research and essay brainstorming.

It was so incredibly helpful to have Liz by my side throughout this whole college process! The college process is very intimidating but Liz was so good at breaking it down into steps so it didn't seem as overwhelming. From helping me compose my activity sheet to narrowing down my college list, Liz made everything go as smooth as possible. I cannot wait to attend the University of Pennsylvania next year and know that Liz was instrumental in helping me get here.

Liz was an outstanding counselor. Our son was lost with so many school choices, to almost a paralyzing point. Once he started to work with Liz, we noticed he became focused and positive about the college application process. Liz really knows how to talk and think with adolescents with empathy and also "reality checks"! She really helped our son find his voice. In addition, Liz connected with us parents in a professional and reliable way. We highly recommend her and hurray for Liz!

Our daughter turned nasty in 11th grade. Stomped around, slammed doors, mouthed off. Then she started working with Liz Marx. Part shrink, part sage, Liz turned an emotional roller-coaster into a walk in the park. Thank you Liz for helping our very happy, no-longer-nasty daughter land at Indiana U.

We would like to commend Liz Marx on her valiant efforts with our son Jaron. Jaron is an extremely intelligent, curious, sophisticated kid - who is also the prototypical teenage boy: independent, defiant and wholly confident in the knowledge that he knows everything about everything. Liz was both bull rider and sheep herder - keeping Jaron on task while weathering the storm of his utter distaste for rules, regulations and regimen. In the end, Jaron was accepted to five schools, and chose to enroll at Lewis & Clark in Portland - which Liz knew would be the perfect fit from the beginning. So, there was a goal in mind from the start, and Liz successfully guided Jaron to that goal. We are grateful for her help - as well as her unwavering sternness and patience.

We are very happy with our decision to work with Liz. I think that each family can have varying concerns and needs going into the college admissions process - ours was getting our daughter, Emma, engaged in thinking about college and helping us make it through the application process with our relationship intact. Liz earned Emma's trust and respect and added a very welcomed structure to college visits and application essay writing. Ultimately, we had very little stress going through the application process, and our younger daughter will begin working with Liz shortly.

We were referred to Liz by a family member who was successful getting their daughter into the college that was the best fit for her. That was key for us as parents. With a scholar athlete, we needed a strong academic match as well as an athletic program match. We also realized we may not receive financial aid due to our income. Instead we were hoping for institutions that would reward our daughter for her hard work over the years in the pool and outside of the pool. Our daughter received $930,000 in merit scholarships - that’s right, zero athletic scholarships. She received a full-tuition scholarship plus stipend to her 1st choice school, Case Western Reserve University. It was awarded to one student only. She will swim as a Spartan at Case in the fall on one of the most prestigious scholarships the university offers. She attributes her success to Liz who “made it easy.” Liz is hands down the best investment we made in our college application process.

Working with Liz was enlightening and rewarding. Not only did she help me present myself to colleges in the best light, but also helped me realize some of the smaller but more important characteristics that I didn’t know I had. Her process is not only honest and intuitive, but it also was integral in producing the final way in which I present myself as an applicant.

With Liz guiding Maia through the rigors of college admissions, Ronen and I could focus on supporting her through the rest of high school. Liz taught us the value of stretch schools, safety schools and, of course, applying to her dream schools -Fordham University, NYU and Emerson College. She got into all three. Liz let Maia’s voice shine and, through her college essay to tell her unique story, encouraging her to show the smart, funny young woman who would be an asset to any school to which she applied.

My experience with Liz was fantastic! She really helped me to develop my essays and shape my application in a way that made both stand out. Liz is passionate, easy to work with, and genuinely invested in her students' success. Berkeley was by far my top choice and, with Liz's help, I was accepted.

Working with Liz was a positive experience from the very first phone call, all the way through the application process and right up to the college acceptance! She truly took the time to get to know my son. She listened to his goals and helped show him how to truly shine in his applications. Liz was always a source of encouragement and support. We will definitely return to work with her with our younger son.

Liz Marx helped both my brother and me into successful admissions to the Caroll School of Management at Boston College! With Liz's guidance I was admitted to 10 of the 11 of schools I applied to! I was very nervous about the college admissions process because my SAT scores were not where I wanted them to be, however, my counselor was able to help me create a very compelling full package. Liz Marx is the best!!!

Liz made college searching extremely enjoyable. She really got to know me before she recommended colleges for me to look at. I could have seen myself at every single college that she recommended. She made sure that I was ahead of the game on my applications. I was able to send in all of my applications early because she had me finish them right after the end of summer. The entire experience was very enjoyable and I am definitely glad that I used Liz Marx for my college counseling.

Liz was very professional, yet friendly and to the point. I was very impressed with her presentation at my son's school. Once my son and I met with her, she not only she helped with ideas to write for the college essays, she was full of information about various universities and their pluses and minuses and helped us narrow down his list of schools. Liz also kept my son on track with frequent emails and reminders as to when the deadlines for various applications/essays were. Both my son and I enjoyed our experience with Liz. Liz made the journey of applying to the colleges a lot more smooth. My son was able to write a wonderful essay that highlighted his strengths and pointed out his unique qualities as well.

We could not be more pleased with our decision to hire Liz Marx. She was organized, well-informed and developed an excellent working timeline directly with our daughter. Liz told us at the beginning that she would be working directly with Olivia and she did just that. It was amazing to watch our daughter fill out all of her college applications and write her essays all on her own, as we always imagined that she would need our help. Nope, not with Liz! With Liz working with our daughter, we are proud to say she was admitted to almost every single school she applied to! Working with Liz Marx was a gift and we highly recommend her services…you will not be disappointed!

Liz was a fantastic college counselor. Throughout the entire process, she was always helping me keep a level head, answering all of my questions, and motivating me to strive for the best. At the same time, she never let me feel too confident about my reach schools. I am so thankful for this because even though I did get into my dream school, I never had my hopes up. Essay wise, Liz was incredibly helpful and insightful. She was very personable and helped me shine through in my essays.

My son applied for college? Yes, that's how seamless the process was thanks to Liz Marx. After the initial intake meeting, the next thing I know is we started receiving acceptance letters. The only stress was waiting to see if they were yes or no letters. With guidance on researching and narrowing the field of easy to hard reach schools as well as essay preparation, a list was settled on and applications were submitted. I have two more high school kids who I will gladly partner up with Liz. And for the record, my son received all "yes" letters! Thank you!

Liz was a godsend to our daughter, and our whole family. My husband and I hired Liz because we knew the college search and application process would be stressful, and in our daughter’s last year of living at home with us, we wanted to have a peaceful year of being her parents - not her coach or editor. Liz provided so much more than we could have hoped. From our daughter’s first video chat with her, we knew it was a perfect match. Liz’s demeanor is straightforward, honest, open, and kind, and she put us at ease right away. Her knowledge about colleges of all types across the country, and the college admissions process, are exceptional. Our daughter enjoyed her meetings with Liz, was motivated to complete college-related assignments on time, and I believe Liz brought out the absolute best in her during the application process. For our daughter, Liz was an objective mentor and confidant, who learned what she needed and wanted, and was able to help her find her way. Liz helped her choose a list of schools where she would be a “good-fit” candidate, and where she could thrive. So far she has been accepted to all of the schools she has heard back from (still waiting on a few), and from these 10 schools, she has been offered over $1,000,000.00 in merit aid. We couldn’t be happier with the options she has, and never would have dreamed the hardest part of this process would be choosing from so many great options – without having to spend time worrying about the costs involved. We did consider the cost of hiring Liz as a factor in our decision. Although in the beginning we made the choice based on the peace we knew it would bring to our family, in the end every penny spent has been returned many, many times over, in the scholarships received. We couldn’t be happier with Liz, and the permanent and positive mark she has left on our daughter’s life.

Liz is amazing. She was patient, informed, and thoroughly engaged with helping my daughter navigate through the college prep journey. She ensured each call addressed my child's questions, concerns and worries. Her responses to questions were always prompt and detailed. She went above and beyond at every moment to help both my child and myself as a parent, understand our next steps in preparing for college. And she was the only one to get my daughter to finally sit down, focus and write an amazing essay for her college application.

Liz Marx has worked with two of my children. I give her my highest recommendation as a college counselor. In searching for a counselor, I interviewed a few and Liz from the beginning was straightforward with her approach and her pricing. The process was seamless. I wanted a professional who would use their skills and knowledge to work with my child and not just help them with deadlines, but get to know them and figure out what would be a good fit for them. That is exactly what she did and so much more. She took the time early in the process to get to know their strengths, their interests and their skills. She also spent time with me and my husband to understand what our wishes were. From there, we were hands off. Liz worked with them directly via skype, email and in-person meetings. They had drafts of their college essays and other application details ahead of schedule. Both the kids were the first of their friends to have their applications submitted. This early action made a huge difference. In the end, my son had his first acceptance in August and ultimately, got into all 10 schools he applied to – 6 with scholarships. He selected a school so perfect for him – and completely off my radar until Liz presented it. My daughter, whose focus was completely different, had a similar experience. She has been accepted early decision to NYU, the only school she has ever wanted to go to. She also got into 6 other schools, with scholarships. Liz helps kids define their goals, work to achieve them, helps them visualize their future. She was direct and honest with them. Firm but understanding. She made the process one they took ownership over so I did not have to nag. Both my kids kept telling me “she’s a professional, she knows what she is doing!” I am so happy we found Liz Marx.
